Abstract: The Live-poultry Division of Zhejiang Cereals, Oils & Foodstuffs Import & Export Co., Ltd. (ZJCOF) which used to run an export-to-HK live pig business, decided to expand its market to mainland. Faced with the complex pork industry value chain and the limited resource constraints of the enterprise, the division had to cooperate closely with the other companies to build a focused and effective closed pork value chain, to provide customers with high-quality products whose process can be traced. In October 2013, the external consulting team presented two partner-selection solutions based on the previous investigation: Qinglian & farmers market V.S. Lanxi & Youkang. Different solutions had different applied conditions as well as specific benefits and risks. How to choose the right solutions from each other was the key problems that the division manager had to deal with when considering how to open pork domestic market.
